Track Of The Day :: Strange Boy - Corbusier

Words: Ellie Ward

After the release of their debut EP 'Annunciation' last year, London-based duo Strange Boy return with lead single 'Corbusier'.

Both the song - inspired by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier - and cinematic video, directed by Theo Davies, are based around the idea of creating something incredible from nothing which insidiously turns into an obsession.

"This song is basically about being inspired to create something special," says singer Kieran Brunt, of the beautifully vocalled, and hauntingly emotive number.

"In the video we wanted to look at this idea through a darker lens, so we worked with Theo to come up with a narrative that focuses on obsession. The story shows the different emotions a person goes through when they become fixated on an idea; excitement, ecstasy, terror, relief... It ended up becoming a pretty honest depiction of the creative process, which I hope lots of people can relate to!"

The video was shot on film over three days in Snowdonia and involved building a 25-foot tower of branches which the band and crew built themselves.

Strange Boy play a free entry London show at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington on January 30.
