Toronto ambient electronic pop producer Kevin O’Brien reveals his first solo project as Kayobe.
New single, the atmospheric electro-pop 'Sun Don’t Shine' started, he says, "on a rainy day, I came back to my home studio after writing the day off otherwise and started messing around. Eventually I came up with the beat, which was inspired by minimal dark electronic and hip hop influences."
Released last week via Physical Presents, the track also features Olive B on vocals. "We went through a bunch of beats and ideas the first time we met up. 'Sun Don’t Shine' really grabbed her attention, so it was the first thing we decided to collaborate on. We wrote the lyrics on the track and her voice ended up being an incredible fit for the style of the song; her character really soared over the minimal nature of the beat."
Kayobe’s debut EP 'Hidden' is out in January 2018.
