10 Little Indie Hot Picks

Fed up with hearing the same old tunes? Well, why not cast your ears over ten of our new specially handpicked hot picks!

ARCHY STRANGER - HOLIDAY

Debut release from the young Melbourne-based electronic pop producer, released November 3 on Tinted Records. This guy is unlikely to be a 'stranger' for long, with tracks like these.

NEON ATLAS - FEVER

Released via Demeanour Records on November 16, the Cork-based outfit share new single, a mix of a harmonious ebow progression with a fragile and lush vocal all leading to an infectious chorus. A listen on repeat number.

JOSH WHEATLEY - CHEMICALS

It seems an age ago since we first heard Nottingham singer-songwriter's achingly beautiful 'Close' back in 2015. Now on his third single, which he explains is "about the base instincts of attraction. The ideas of the brain emitting neurotransmitters which change mood so heavily." Josh throws in some big guitars and synths for good measure to play around a mellifluous vocal.

HOTEL LUX - THE LAST HANGMAN

Out November 17 via Too Old For This Records, the self-produced debut from the London via Portsmouth five-piece follows first taster ‘Envoi’ from start of 2017. Catch live the same night at The George Tavern, Stepney Green, London. This is different all right. Hypnotically discordant.

KID CUPID - EASY

The London alt-pop four-piece deliver intoxicating electro-pop on this latest single, of standout vocals that ride over a mix of glitchy beats, keys, dark synths and pulsating rhythms in a track the band describe as exploring themes of addiction and self destruction.

RENTAL WIVES - KEEP ME ON MY TOES

London-based quartet - which includes Josh Falconer and Matt Bradstreet, formerly of a band well-known to Little Indie, Jubilee Courts - follow their debut single 'Twenty Pounds', with this just released new single. Easy, sway-along melodies and we love the vocal. Catch them live at The Monarch, London on December 7.

THE WYTCHES - DOUBLE WORLD

The Brighton psych rockers have two versions of this latest gauzy, reverbed number: ‘Double World’ and ’Double World (Sludge Version)’, released digitally through Heavenly Recordings on October 31. Heavy and hypnotic, the guitars are pretty delicious.

GLASS PEAKS - HOLD ME CLOSER

We like this new single, the follow-up to 'I'm Okay', from the Kent three-piece a lot. A build-up of gorgeous vocals, plenty of hooky riffs and a bass undertone back a catchy blighter of a chorus and some nice little harmonies. Catch live at The Water Rats, London on December 2.

FALSE ADVERTISING - I THINK I GOT MY WISH

The Manchester trio strike out with this rocky grunge beast of a track, helmed by Jen Hingley's dominant vocal over thundering drums and bombastic guitars. Taken from the band's just released co-produced (with Sam Jones) 'I Would Be so Much Happier If I Just Stopped Caring' EP.

IRIS LUNE - LOST IN CHATTER

The title track of the Brooklyn art-pop quartet’s upcoming second EP, out November 28 through Kobalt/AWAL. Ella Joy adds a lush vocal over clattering percussion and synths on this track inspired by the final chapter of Lewis Carroll’s Alice In Wonderland.
