LUKE SWOON - NIGHT LIGHTS
Girls, if you're still carrying a torch for Harry Styles, lay it down and get with young Luke Duffett here, who manages to emote this debut silo outing ballad while looking sensually at the camera in this accompanying visual, wearing a wet tee-shirt and casually pushing his hands through dripping hair as he skims the waves. We love this song (and vid, we cannot lie!) a whole lot. Swoon, we did, indeed. Luke is in fact the vocalist with the Bucks-based band Swoons who Little Indie has featured more than once. GROWTH - WAIT
This experimental Swedish all female three-piece from Stockholm spent the first half of this year working on a new EP in an old paper mill in the woods. This cut is another taster from 'Color, Cut and Clarity', released last week through Lazy Octopus Records. Following earlier release 'Ice Age' they once again exhibit their penchant for multi-textural layering and gritty vocals.
GALLERY CIRCUS - CLUB HOUSE KILLER
Rock 'n' roll identical twins Daniel and Graeme Ross haul out the distortion-heavy rock guitars with plenty of fiery hooks and raw energy, mixed with a splash of pop fizz, on this second single release produced by Dan Austin (Pixies, Doves) and out on October 14t via Think Tank? Records.
DRAWSTRING - SCHOOL
A new two-piece from Tunbridge Wells, no doubt hoping to put the town on the map once more in the wake of that other celebrated Wells pair, Slaves. These two 18-year-olds (Sam Shepherd - guitars, bass, vocals and Ben Schulze - drums, vocals) follow up their 2015 EPs, 'One' (released in June) and 'Two' (November) and 'Three' a cassette release this March) with this new double A-sider (w/'Chicago Town'), out on Beth Shalom Records on October 7. It's hard not to grin at the adolescence charm of this video, or not to be gripped with the catchy zeal of the track.
NERVE LEAK - MOON PULLS
24-year-old Brooklyn-based Sam Friedman follows his 'DR34M5' release with this new lush work of experimental pop-electronica. Falsetto vocals are laid over over darkly textured hip hop ambient beats to create an atmosphere hard to resist.
MAIAH MANSER - SECOND SKIN
Smoky, brooding noir-pop in the Amy Winehouse vein, from this Seattle-based singer who is starting to pick up a tastemaker buzz. This latest single is released on October 21 via Freakout Records. Produced by Frank Ocean’s collaborator, Buddy Ross and mastered by Tom Coyne (Adele, Beyonce, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber), it seduces with its powerful vocals, electronics and string arrangements.
GANSER - PYRRHIC VICTORY
First single off of the upcoming EP 'This Feels Like Living' from Chicago's dark-post-punk-wave quartet. A five-minute sonic treat with propulsive beat and angular guitars melded into one big melodic groove.
FAKE PALMS - FREQUENCIES
From the forthcoming EP 'Heavy Paranoia' - recorded with Josh Korody (Dilly Dally, Weaves, Fucked Up) and Shehzaad Jiwani of Greys - out on September 30 via Buzz Records, the Toronto-based band blend post-punk, industrial, dreampop jangle and 90s indie hooks into one three-minute-plus jam.
JORDAN ALLEN - DANCING IN THE DARK
Third single from the on-the-rise Bolton rock 'n' rollers going from strength to strength (and not least, comparisons to Arctic Monkeys), with their sharp lyricism, ripe riffs and gritty indie energy. Catch live today (September 23) at Milecastle 66 festival in Carlisle.
YOUNG LEGIONNAIRE - DISAPPEAR
The first single from upcoming second album 'Zero Worship', out November 25 via Superstar Destroyer from the rock three-piece spread across London, Berlin and Austin, Texas: Dean Pearson, Paul Mullen (yourcodenameis:milo, The Automatic), and Gordon Moakes (Bloc Party). Edgy, anthemic post-hardcore with Mullen delivering rock god vocals.
