May 6 2016 - Hot Top Ten

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
DIE ZERSTÖRTEN - BLACK HARBOUR
If you can keep still for all 6:38 minutes of this dark electronic dance track - the title cut from Berlin-based Brit Stuart Jones's upcoming EP - you may need to call a doctor.

FLING - MAGICAL
The title is apt. Second of catchy quirkiness track from their forthcoming debut EP unveiled by the new Bradford four-piece we introduced here last month, fronted by the very watchable 18-year-old Charles McSorley. A band to break.

AVES - DON'T SAY
Sydney-based singer-songwriter airs first taste of his self-titled debut EP arriving July 1. Chilled vocals, minimalist electronic indie beats.

BLUSH - WRNG
You may need to listen to the track to work out what the missing vowel is in this latest track from the rising Essex four-piece who we introduced here last year. Express train-paced with infectious rhythms and chorus geared for a sing-along.

BLAJK - GOOD LIARS
Dark indie pop electronics from the Toronto outfit, follow-up to 'French Class', and lead single from their new EP. Jordan Radics' baritone fronts over synth arrangements. Performing at Canadian Music Week in Toronto tonight (May 6) and May 8.

LUNAR QUIET - ENDLESS MIGRAINE
Debut from the new Brighton-based outfit, combining the post-punk tautness of Eagulls, the melodic immersion of DIIV, and My Bloody Valentine's reverbed distortion, it is a full-on three-minute-plus journey of scorching fretwork that dips and dives on a rollercoaster of fiercely constructed soundwaves.

MAJIK - CLOSER
London-based duo (producer /guitarist Jamie, and singer-songwriter Marcus) deliver atmospheric sounds and broken beats on this slow tempo mellow follow-up to ‘It’s Alright’ / Save Me’ which has amassed over 2 million streams on Spotify. Catch live on May 13 at The Scotch Of St James, London.

TORHO - EJIPT
Second electronic pop single of clipped beat qlitchiness from the south-east London-based trio - Tom Rhodes (vocals, keyboards), Marijn van Haaren (production) and Sam Hurst (bass, synths) - that combines computers with live instruments.

YAK - TAKE IT
The London trio turn a melodic spin on this latest track from their upcoming 'Alas Salvation' album out on May 13. Less guttural, more brooding, Oli Burslem tones down the usual vocal blast. Catch live at Birmingham's Rainbow on May 11.

FUTURE TWIN - ARE YOU RESTED (ENOUGH YET)?
San Francisco’s Jean Jeanie supplies the evocatively soaring vocals on this latest 'soul-gaze and shred' near-five-minute single of haunting substance.
