April 22 2016 - Hot Top Ten

TRACK OF THE WEEK:
BRONCHO - SEÑORA BOREALIS
The Oklahoma quartet precede their new album, 'Double Vanity' - out May 27 via Dine Alone Records - with this smoky belter second single. Gritty, reverbed guitars and vocal effects provide a hypnotic gaze of psych lushness.

ELVIS DEPRESSEDLY - SLIP
North Carolina duo Mat Cothran (former Coma Cinema frontman) and Delaney Mills release their 'Holo Pleasures / California Dreamin' LP on Run For Cover Records on June 3. The record is both a re-issue of their 2013 'Holo Pleasures' EP and an amount of unreleased material on the 'California Dreamin' B-side - from which this reflective lo-fi track comes. In the UK for the first time in June, opening at London's Moth Club on 8th.

PLEASURE BEACH - MAGIC MOUNTAIN
Released on April 29, the Belfast band’s first new material since their self-titled debut EP of last year. Atmospheric ’80s-styled power dreampop with bouncy beat and shimmering harmonies. Catch at Live Sr Leeds on April 30.

THE ISABELLES - PERMANENT REWIND
New self-produced two-and-a-half minute single - released last week - from the Cornwall outfit (who we introduced here a year ago) of intense post-punk-infused melodic riffs. Debut album on the way later this year via Easy Action Records.

PHOSPHENE - SILVER
This chilled and seductively vocalled - by Rachel Frankel - track with chiming shoegaze guitar comes from the San Francisco Bay Area dreampop trio's second EP 'Breaker', out on April 29.

DELAMERE - KILL IT
The Staffs/Manchester-based outfit follow up last October's single 'Heart' with another dip in the indie-pop harmonies pool. Out now via Scruff of the Neck Records, this latest single, recorded at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios with producer Rich Turvey, builds into a quite glorious alt-pop rock anthem with plentiful hooks and strong vocal.

FERAL LOVE - LIKE THE WIND
Released on May 13, the debut from Adele Emmas and Christian Sandford, ex- of BIRD, who deliver the same quality on this dreamy slice of electro pop track as they did previously.

BIG DEAL - SAY YES
Title track from the debut album, out June 10 via Fat Cat Records, by the London-based indie rock quartet. Scuzzy hooks tempered with bold melodically styled pop lines.

KISS ME STUPID! - OLD LADY INSIDE
Playing what they describe as "tweepop that will get stuck in your head", the Swedish indie pop seven-piece from Malmö have a quirky and ironic way with lyrics and snappy melodies, and a range of instrumentation including ukelele, violin, piano, melodica, electric, acoustic and bass guitar. Their 'Poster Girl For Kindness' EP came out two weeks ago.

DESERT SOUND COLONY - SIGNALS
Out May 13 via This Is Music, London based three-piece share title track from upcoming EP. Developed from an original solo project in 2014 (with 'The Way I Began'), has added vocal layers and fullness while still retaining the same evocativeness of sound. Catch live at EP release party on May 18 at the Queen Of Hoxton, London.
