The Birmingham five-piece GLEAM emerged at the start of 2015 with 'Isn't Real', their shoegaze-esque, Ryan Pinson-produced debut. Heavy on distorted, melodic guitars they set out their stall with a wave of attention, with second track 'Fake' coming shortly after.
Now, as they follow-up with number three, 'Believe' - which very possibly is the one that will mark their place for big things in 2016 - Little Indie is very pleased to premiere it here.
Debuting their first music video for 'Believe' - shot in classy noir mode by Viceroy Shoots - with swirling guitars, smoke, lamps and a smiling young lady doing things with sparklers - you can't help but be drawn to, not just their cool demeanour, and the song's lush psych-gaze, Ride-influenced groove, but vocalist Jake Bellwood's facial hair growth is as much a point of visual interest as his gorgeously soaring pitched vocal is to the ears.
Making its radio debut a few days ago on Radio X, 'Believe' was described by X-posure's John Kennedy as "very impressive stuff" - and that's from a man who knows his music 'stuff'.
And If GLEAM should happen to look or sound a tad familiar it may be that the band was formed by Bellwood (vocals/guitar), Tommy Greaves (guitar), and Max Fisher (synth), who were part of one of Birmingham's most talked about outfits, Wide Eyed. (Completing the new GLEAM line-up are Kez Handley on bass and Huw Woodward, drums.)
