Track Of The Day :: L.U.V - Take Me To The Sea

Words: Linn Branson

Following in the long line of singing sibling sisters (Haim, Ibeyi, The Cadburys...) comes L.U.V, comprised of Sydney-born, now Brisbane-based Vivi, 17, and Maya, 20, Mohan.

The newly formed pop duo have made an assured debut with first single, 'Take Me To The Sea', which was mixed by Brisbane’s Konstantin Kersting (Art Of Sleeping, The Belligerents, Moses Gunn Collective).

Vibrantly catchy, ‘Take Me To The Sea’ bounces along on a driving rhythm, utilising elegant jangly guitar lines to complement the dual vocal delivery of both Maya and Vivi.

The song's inspiration and meaning was summed up by the duo, as follows:

Maya: We see it as an anthem: go and do and be what you want. It's about figuring out what you want and where you want to be. We thought the sea was a nice metaphor for this - its beauty, vastness and mystery. It represents freedom, but at the same time the unknowableness that comes with adventure.
Vivi: We wrote the verses of the song first. They were meant as an insight into what it can feel like to be lost, to not know where you're going, or know where you're going but not knowing how to get there.
