September 25 2015 - Hot Top Ten

INHEAVEN - BITTER TOWN
Out October 30 via Hometown Records, South London quartet follow debut single 'Regeneration' and 'Slow', with first official single of 80s-inspired rockgaze. Fuzzy textures, sonic atmosphere, echoing vocals and infectious chorus.

SECRET WEAPONS - SOMETHING NEW
Brooklyn electro pop duo (Gerry Lange, lead vocals; Danny Rocco, guitar/bass, vocals) with an irresistible earworm of a debut. Punchy, electronic synths, and a gospel-infused handclapping outro. You gotta boogie to this!

THE VRYLL SOCIETY - AIR
From the Liverpool outfit's debut EP 'Pangea', out October 26 via Deltasonic, a funk electronica smooth groove, featuring Mike Ellis’ ethereal vocals. On tour in October, including London's Sebright Arms on October 14.

SPLASHH - PURE BLUE
New dreamily-riffed, self-produced single out via Luv Luv Luv Records on October 30, recorded in their London studio and mixed by Nicolas Verhnes (War On Drugs, Deerhunter). Catch them on tour (w/Peace and Yak), including tonight (September 25) at the Middlesbrough Empire.

SULK - BLACK INFINITY (UPSIDE DOWN)
London quintet return with first taste of upcoming second album, trading hooky psych vibes, blissed-out vocal melodies and harmonies. Hear it live tonight (September 25) at The Garage in London, and at The Social, London on 29th.

CAT BEAR TREE - ADULT
Two years ago we reviewed their debut EP here earning itself a 9/10. Now the all-girl London trio share a cut from their second record ‘Settled In Our Hearts’, digitally released on October 23. Once again, sumptuous vocals and airy punk melodics, with anthemic pop chorus, set them ahead. Catch them live tonight (September 25) at The Victoria, Swindon.

LA BÊTE BLOOMS - SUMMER
To feature on the Hull post-punk band's limited edition Cassette Store Day release (w/'Nothing Left But The Taste'), out October 17 via The Adult Teeth Recording Company. Effective use of tremelo pedal, and Dan Mawer's (who says it's his favourite of the songs he's written) trippy vocal lend a psych tinge.

MIDCITY - HONED
Leicester alt-rockers' follow-up to 'Needles' and the lead track from their upcoming EP. Sharp guitars and piercing bass nestle alongside synths and potent vocals. Catch them live tomorrow (September 26) at The Cookie, Leicester.

TRUDY - BEHAVE
Mixed by Spring King's Tarek Musa, and released last week, the follow-up to debut ‘All My Love’ sees the melodic Liverpool-based trio serve up another delicious offering of sweet pop richness.

TOPS - ANYTHING
Moody, evocative new single, out last week, from the Montreal popgaze four-piece (Jane Penny, David Carriere, Riley Fleck, Alana DeVito) with vocalist Penny delivering sultry torch song vocals.
