March 6 2015 - Hot Top Ten

COASTS - MODERN LOVE
Forthcoming big anthemic single with stinking dance vibe, from the Bristol synthpop quintet released April 28 via Tidal Recordings/Warner Bros. Premiered by Zane Lowe on his BBC R1 show as his 'Hottest Record'. Catch them at London’s Scala on March 30.

FAT HEAVEN - WILL YOU WALK
The Misfits influenced track taken from the NYC garage rock trio's (vocalist/guitarist Travis Yablon, Gayla Brooks, drums, Jack "The Counce", guitar) self-titled four-track EP which came out last week via Chisel Records

THE MIRROR TRAP - LITTLE EASE
New Dundee outfit staking a claim with a big tun from their self-produced EP, 'The Silent Men', out on March 16 via A Happy Death Recordings. Currently on tour with Placebo playing Hull City Hall tonight (March 6). Led by energetic single ‘Little Ease’, Moore’s lyrics deliver a “short, sharp punch in the face”.

SPIES - SEA CREATURE
Title track from the new EP, out on March 30 by the Dublin five-piece who put out the excellent 'Moosehead' last year. Michael Broderick’s vocals soar as the song meanders, heightening its way into its Echo and the Bunnymen-esque crescendo. Catch them live on March 18 at The Stillery in London.

AVA LUNA - COAT OF SHELLAC
Skittery Brooklyn art-poppers unveil another track from their second LP, 'Infinite House', out on April 14 (US)/May 4 (UK), recorded in Mississippi and in the Brooklyn DIY venue Silent Barn. Stylish soul vocal from Felicia Douglass in a spacey slt-pop setting.

FURS - I WANNA KNOW
Self-recorded and produced (with Claudius Mittendorfer - Temples, Johnny Marr - on mixing credits) new single, out March 30, the London outfit turn out warm, rich 80s influenced sounds (accomplished apparently via the use of old analogue synths, paired with vintage microphones).

SHIRLEY SAID - SALVATION
Digitally released double A-side debut single (with ‘Merry-Go-Round’), out on March 23. Ambient Italian electro psych from the former foursome, now downsized to Giulia Scarantino (vocals synth, piano) and Simone Bozzato (guitars, programming).

BROKEN HANDS - DEATH GRIP
Available as a free download now prior to its official release on April 6 via SO Recordings, the Canterbury five-piece turn out a 3-minute fuzz-drenched bass blaster of big riffs and raw rock produced by Tom Calvert (Royal Blood). See them at Ekectrowerkz, London on March 30.

PALE HONEY - YOUTH
A slow exploding frenzy from two female (Tuva Lodmark, vocals/guitar; Nelly Daltrey, drums) Gothenburg rockers on this single cut - out this week - from their self-titled debut album dropping in April.

NADINE SHAH - FOOL
Dramatically brooding and menacingly guitar'd digital single release from new album, 'Fast Food', produced by Ben Hillier (Blur, Doves, Horrors), out April 7 via Apollo / R&S Records.
