Track Of The Day :: Charles Howl - Going Down With A Hi

Looking increasingly like the kind of psych-rock outfit you need to keep watch on, London duo Charles Howl are making the those swirling and melodically propulsive sounds that sound like a TOY/Slowdive mashup.

Charles Howl (comprised of Charles Howl and Bobby Voltaire, both of The Proper Ornaments) release their debut album ‘Sir Vices' on March 16, via Ample Play, and before that they have just released this hallucinogenic video - produced by Ornaments' bassist Danny Nellis - for their single 'Going Down With A Hi', which is out on February 23.

Recorded at Syke Lane's warehouse studio on the outskirts of Leeds, where Howl honed his songwriting, and production skills, before bringing in a team of friends, including Chris Hicks (Talons) on bass and Wesley Patrick Gonzalez (Let's Wrestle) to play on the album. 'Going Down With A Hi' blends trippy Brit indie with a touch of California surf rock.

Catch Charles Howl live at these two upcoming dates. The band have also been announced for The Great Escape in May:

February
13. Ample Play Night with Yokan System at The Waiting Room, Stoke Newington, London
27. Flashback Records, Islington In-store
