November 28 2014 - Hot Top Ten

SLAVES - THE HUNTER
The Kent duo - guitarist Laurie Vincent, and singing drummer Isaac Holman - have taken in more willing succumbents over the course of 2014 to their noisy, energy-filled live shows on the basis of tracks like this. Big name for 2015.

SANDY - GROWL
Doing anything but growl, Samantha Pathe, the sultry vocalist with this new synthpop three-piece (which includes brother Stephen) from New York City, caresses the ears with breathy seductiveness on this soulful, eerie electronic track taken from their debut EP.

ASTRO ZU - GHOST TOWN FT. PIN TWEAKS
We have featured Pin Tweaks here several times, now comes their collab with London producer and master of lush beats, Astro Zu. Addictively trippy electronica. Catch Astro Zu at Scala, London tonight (November 28).

BRONCHO - WHAT
Cut from the Tulsa tornadoes' latest second album, 'Just Enough Hip To Be Woman'. The four have not just enough of the right punk/garage rock jams to be hip, but to have also won favour across the pond during 2014 on the back of previous lauded outing 'Class Historian'.

PORT ISLA - IN THE LONG RUN
Title track from the second EP - which came out this week - from the Norwich-based four-piece. Fresh from supporting Brit Awards nominee James Bay on tour, they bring their anthemic folk-pop to London on December 4 to play The Islington.

VIOLA DUST - TRICK
More slow-burning, zest-filled synth sounds in this latest RnB-fused track from the five-piece from Newry, Co.Down in Northern Ireland who emerged early this summer with 'The Big Hop'.

FAUX CHATEAU - BETTY
Funky alt-pop first taster from new Hertfordshire/North London four-piece (who recently opened for JAWS) self-released last week.

KOREAN DRAMA - NOTHING BUT A BIRD (FLUTTER)
One-and-a-half minutes of rampant fierceness from Justin Kinch's Toronto punks, following early summer's 'Shotgun Legs' and the sold-out cassette album 'Reply 1994'.

VITAMIN - DID IT FOR YOU
Following 'To Believe' and 'Dancing On The Sun', more lushly produced production from the Leeds outfit, with an infectiously grooved track that evokes Bombay Bicycle Club and Friendly Fires.

CIRCA WAVES - FOSSILS
Forthcoming single - out January 19 2015 via Virgin - from the Liverpudlian indie foursome who have been creating blogosphere waves with their jangly, wiry guitars set in a shimmering warm melodic pop glow through the tones of vocalist Kieran Shudall.
