October 31 2014 - Hot Top Ten

ORMONDE - PAINTINGS
New single from the Seattle-based Texan duo, taken from their forthcoming debut album 'Cartographer/Explorer', out November 3 via Gizeh Records - an album written and recorded in an immersive two-week period which included the watching of Twin Peaks - perhaps accounting for the songs' narcotic quality.

NZCA LINES - NEW ATMOSPHERE
Michael Lovett releases new single on December 8 via Moshi Moshi, instilled with his trademark synths and crisp rhythms and swooning vocals, produced by Charlie Alex March (Gold Panda) and Ash Workman (Metronomy).

LIVE // LEARN - RAILS
Second of two (with 'Filth') debut tracks released in last fortnight by new Hertfordshire four-piece - both of which will feature on the band's forthcoming debut EP, out later this year on Unit 6 Records. Frontman Joe Savage's raucous vocal takes centre stage here, expertly navigating his way round melodious guitar work, and some brilliant electronically skewed percussion.

DIRT DRESS - TWELVE PICTURES
Lo-fi, surf-tinged guitar sounds - with a sax chunk right in the middle - taken from the upcoming four-track 'Revelations' EP - out November 18 on Future Gods - from the Los Angeles post-punk outfit.

GOODNIGHT LENIN - YOU WERE ALWAYS WAITING
West Midlands alt rock outfit who formed in 2011, but only now about to release their debut album 'In The Fullness Of Time' - out on November 24 via Static Caravan - from which comes this lead single, mixed by Jonathan Wilson, out on November 10. Catch them live at London's Sebright Arms on November 3.

COED PAGEANT - OUR BAR
Taken from the just released 'Drag' mini-album by alt folk duo Bradley & Gretchen Bergstrand. Originally from Illinois, they spent the past year both living and recording in northern California. Now Arizona-based, they record and produce all their music from their home studio. Their last EP, 'Four Seasons', was released in 2012.

GREYWIND - AFTERTHOUGHTS
Digital debut release single, out today - from brother-sister indie rock duo, Paul and Steph O'Sullivan, from Killarney, Ireland, whose initial demo of this uploaded in July caused a torrent of interest leading to its bring rerecorded with producer Jason Perry.

MORNING SMOKE - HUNGER
New single from the Brighton four-piece - still all under 20 - that we first featured here back in August last year. Filled with dreamy stoner riffs and some sheer Sonic Youth moments, thus drops on December 1. Catch them at The Social, London on November 19.

CITY OF GLASS - TITAN
Berlin-based electronic pop duo, cycle fashion photographer/blogger David Phu and film composer Michael Champion. This is the third single from their forthcoming 'Monogyny' EP out November 17.

SISTERS - FEBRUARY
Raucous, but infectious DIY style three-piece from Limerick - Alice, vocals, bass; Niall, guitar; Andrew, drums - now based in London. Offering this new track as a free download via Soundcloud, and a video to boot.
