September 19 2014 - Hot Top Ten

CEMETERY SUN - HARD DRUGS
First single from the Sacramento, California alt-rock five-piece (with Brit bassist Danny). Self-recorded, deadly and addictive. We couldn't say 'No' to these drugs full of glitchy beats and Josh Doty's (ex-Ten After Two) commanding presence on vocal duties.

MITSKI - TOWNIE
From the Brooklyn-based singer / songwriter's new full-length, 'Bury Me At Makeout Creek', out in November via Double Double Whammy. Taking a different approach from 2012's 'Lush' and 'Retired from Sad, New Career in Business' of last year. Theremin, tambourine, quirky vocals, snappy beat and 90s fuzz.

SLOW SKIES - BODIES
The Dublin duo's mournfully alluring second track from their upcoming 'Keepsake' EP - out September 30 - following the earlier 'Ice Field'. Moody, lush, aching with percussion and the vocals of Karen Sheridan drawing you in like the magnet of a siren.

SUPERFOOD - MOOD BOMB
Hooky, indie-rock vibes on this new single from Dom Ganderton's Birmingham crew (out November 3 thru Infectious Music), taken from their forthcoming debut album, 'Don't Say That' released same day.

FLIGHTS - EMPIRE GONE
Another piece of sweeping anthemicness and high falsettos from the Bristol four, taken from the upcoming debut album 'History Be Kind', out October 6.

LANY - MADE IN HOLLYWOOD
Third in a run - after 'Walk Away' and 'ILYSB' - and now the poppier just released new single featuring snares, synth pads and smooth 80s electronica textures from the Nashville/LA three-piece.

DILLY DALLY - CANDY MOUNTAIN
Out October 13 thru Fat Possum, the Toronto grunge four-piece -  that is dominated by vocalist Katie Monks' delivery of intense guttural moans - follow up the January release of 'Next Gold' with this latest gritty textured piece of sugar.

PARLA - FLEDGLING
Our former Track Of The Day is a grower on the senses. If you like it on first hearing, it'll be a full-on love obsession with Richard Walters and Guy Sigsworth by the third run.

GENGAHR - POWDER
Smooth, melodic indie-rock from the North Londoners' with their debut single released on October 27th through Transgressive Records. Catch them on tour with Darlia from September 22, as well as their own headline show at Oslo, London on September 30.

BLACK LINEN - ABSENT FRIENDS
Filmed by Judah Swilley at guitarist Randy Michael's Atlanta home (luckily it's a detached residence, so no neighbours complaining about the noise!), a new track from their upcoming album, 'White Noise' by the band we first featured here back in May. Full of 60s rhythmic vibes the like of which you don't hear these days. A must for 'Later...with Jools'.
