September 12 2014 - Hot Top Ten

WIVES - BURIED
Our Track Of The Day here this week from the Canberra experimental post-punk band with a vocal by Anja Loughhead that you won't have heard too many like. Glorious drones too.

LOOKS - BACK TO THE FIRE
New single out on October 20 from the London trio signed to the Killing Moon label, which follows their highly impressive debut 'Everest' of late last year. Looking to the future ate these lads.

FMLYBAND - YOUNG WILD
Following up 'Electricity' with the second track out this week from upcoming EP 'Back to Life', out on October 7, the Isla Vista, California collective come back with this infectious hook-heavy piece of electro pop.

INDRA'S NET - SUMMER RAIN
Leicester four-piece with their debut single, released last week, which is the lead cut from their forthcoming EP. Taking inspiration from the likes of Foals and The National, this is a likeable first offering.

FIANCÉ - ERA
Another track we featured here this week, and the smooth crooning Delaware four definitely score a massive hit with us. Taken from the upcoming 'EP1', out on September 23 via SQE Music.

CURELIGHT WOUNDS - EYE TO EYE
Latest single - released this week - from the Brooklyn psych / shoegaze musician (yes, just solo, though you'd think plural judging by the sound) we first featured here back in 2013.

THE MCQUEENS - FRIENDS
Melbourne four-piece who couple electro infused rock with synth-heavy, danceable melodies. This new single follows EPs 'Fitzroy' (2012) and 'Return To Laughter' (2013).

NETIL - SWEET TEETH
Promising first single (following their first uploaded demo, 'Is There Something In Your Eye?' earlier this year) by the new London foursome, out September 29. Penetrating vocals battle with some striking guitars and drone bass for who comes off best. It's a draw.

FRENCH FOR RABBITS - WOKE UP TO A STORM
Kiwi ethereal ghostwave duo with atmospheric lead cut from their upcoming debut album 'Spirits', out on October 28. Catch them next month on tour with Agnes Obel in Europe, playing two UK dates: October 21 at Brighton's All Saints Church, and the following night in London at Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

ETCHES - ICE CREAM DREAM MACHINE
New single (out October 13 thru Club.The.Mammoth) from the Liverpool outfit who made such an impression with their debut last year. Described by the band as being 'a metaphor for the perceived developed world. Rich, sweet, industrial, the American Dream etc." it's a gelato delight to us. Catch their single launch shows on October 1 at St Pancras Old Church, London, and October 2 at East Village Arts Club, Liverpool.
