More New Sounds From Australia #4

More up and coming from the Australian indie scene.

HOPIUM
Somewhat mysterious Melbourne electronic duo, following up their brooding, darkwave debut 'Cut It' with 'Dreamers', featuring Phoebe Lou, former Snakadaktal frontwoman providing spoken word parts. Started making waves earlier this year in home ground, now picking up interest in UK and Europe.

SPLIT SECONDS
Melbourne five-piece's new single 'Delivery' mixes rich vocals and electric, foot-tapping beats that are their signature sound that we heard on recent favourite 'Halfway There'. Melodic, chilled out moodiness sets the seal for their forthcoming EP 'Neil Young & Dumb'.

HOMES
Seven-piece, soul poppin’ rock n’ roll from Melbourne. The latest offering from the band, 'Did You Find What You’re Looking For?', out on September 15, pits the hard hitting, fast paced live attitude and sound of 70’s surf rock with traditional hooks and grooves picked straight from the crates of soul records. Vocals dripping in Hendrix-esque swagger are teamed with axe-slaying riffs; blistering horns soar over the soulful grit of Rhodes keys, creating a track oozing with live energy.

KRISTAFOR FARRENKOTHEN
19-year-old singer/songwriter based in Sydney who has been developing his love and passion for guitar driven music over the last 3 years. With inspiration stemming from many different artists, he has been able to create a style consisting of strong melodies, haunting harmonies and delicately played guitars.

BUCHANAN
Four-piece alt-indie outfit from Melbourne have taken their sound in a significantly different direction with new single 'Coming Down'. Co-written and produced by renowned London producer Simon Duffy who has worked with the likes of Leftfield, Mr Hudson and Dirty Vegas, along with frontman Josh Simons, it marks a shift in sound, embracing a delicate, world-inspired electronic sound for the first single off their forthcoming LP.

CHASE CITY
Hobart's Chase City create a blend of sun-drenched guitar pop and indie rock that boasts catchy hooks and soaring melodies, the band's latest single 'Go Back' is instant yet enthralling; showcasing all the best qualities of a pure pop song. Think upbeat, bouncy melodies and a chorus earworm.
