Introducing :: DarkTrain

DarkTrain are a new electronic duo from Brighton who formed in late 2012, bonding over a shared love of analog synths and electronica, but only really set the train in motion on the tracks around six months ago when they produced first song 'Inside' - one of three currently online.

The pair, Kentish lass Lauren Bateman with a dance music background, and Canadian Marcel Ino, a Toronto post punk musician, describe themselves as 'Anti Pop Synth Pop': "Anti Pop, as in, not adhering to conventional pop song structures. The term 'collaboration' is very important to us. We both play an equal part in writing and production."

'Mirrors' - stream below - is the latest from DarkTrain. Dark and original - the opening 27 seconds are cinematic in quality -  with enough pleasing tweaks and innovative touches to warrant more than just a single play; if not least to check whether those beats in there are really the same as heard in the EastEnders theme.

DarkTrain play Sebright Arms, London on September 6 supporting Empathy Test.
