First Listen :: Ancient Times

Ancient Times is the project started in July 2012 by 19-year-old Brighton-based George Smale, with the recording and posting online of three demos. Expanding into a live band in the latter half of last year, they released their debut recorded output this February with a split cassette with Furrow (through Coastal Wizards).

Now set to make their first official release proper, with the double A-Side vinyl 7", 'Nightschool/Hieroglyphic', through Soft Power Records on September 16.

Ancient Times, as the name may suggest, combines a fascination for historical mythology from around the world with a jangly, sometimes aggressive post-punk element, to produce an interestingly vibrant indie-pop palette, with vocals reminiscent of an early Morrissey.

Set to embark on their first ever UK tour in support of the single release, Ancient Times have announced the following dates:

August 14 - Tunbridge Wells, The Forum
August 15 - Brighton, The Blind Tiger Club
August 16 - London, Power Lunches
August 17 - Portsmouth, The Registry
August 18 - Leamington Spa, Zephyr Lounge
August 19 - London, The Lexington
August 20 - Manchester, Trof Fallowfield
August 21 - Canterbury, West Track Studios
